Firm Profile

Background

Michael Bazala received his Architecture Degree from the City University of New York.  As a teenager he worked in a local New Jersey architect's office as a helper, making blueprints and running errands.  After receiving his Architecture Degree, he worked for firms in NY and NJ until he established Bazala Architects in 1981.

Initially specializing in restoration and renovation of historic homes in Short Hills and Summit, NJ the firm evolved to designing residential, commercial and institutional projects throughout the state as well as numerous other projects in the Eastern U.S. The firm's work has been featured in national design publications.

current practice

While a large portion of the business is dedicated to residential work, the firm has also designed numerous professional offices, shopping malls, retail stores, religious buildings, and manufacturing facilities.

Today, a substantial part of the practice is devoted to renovation and additions/alterations of existing homes as well as design of new residences in both traditional and contemporary styles. The firm has acquired a reputation with local officials for maintaining the integrity and charm of older or historic homes while updating for modern technologies, convenience and 21st century functionality.

With Bazala Architects, the client is an integral part of the process from start to finish. Personalized service is the hallmark of Bazala Architects.  All projects undertaken by the firm are faithfully developed to produce innovative design solutions which respect client's wishes and concerns.
